Job summary As a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse, you will provide expert clinical care while supporting the day to day running of the Oncology Outpatients unit. We are looking for an experienced oncology nurse who combines strong clinical skills with a genuine passion for patient care and team development.

Main duties of the job Delivering high quality, evidence-based oncology nursing care Administering SACT and supportive treatments safely and effectively Supporting patients through treatment by recognising and managing treatment related toxicities Undertaking pre-treatment assessments and utilising UKONS triage tools Acting as Nurse in Charge and deputising for the Unit Manager when required Supporting, mentoring and developing Band 5 Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and student nurses Working closely with consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care Contributing to service development, governance, audit and quality improvement initiatives Helping to maintain a positive, supportive and learning focused team culture.

Job description Job responsibilities Job Title: Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse Salary: £45,469 - £55,564 Department: Oncology Outpatients Hours: 37.5 Monday to Friday Contract: Permanent We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Oncology Nurse to join our Oncology Outpatients team as a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and compassionate nurse who is passionate about delivering outstanding cancer care and is looking to take the next step in their leadership journey. Working within our specialist Oncology Outpatients service, you will care for patients with a wide range of oncology and haemato-oncology diagnoses, supporting them throughout their treatment journey in a modern ambulatory setting. You will play a key role in delivering Systemic Anti Cancer Therapy (SACT), leading clinical practice, supporting junior colleagues and helping to drive service improvement across the unit. Delivering high quality, evidence-based oncology nursing careAdministering SACT and supportive treatments safely and effectivelySupporting patients through treatment by recognising and managing treatment related toxicitiesUndertaking pre-treatment assessments and utilising UKONS triage toolsActing as Nurse in Charge and deputising for the Unit Manager when requiredSupporting, mentoring and developing Band 5 Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and student nursesWorking closely with consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient careContributing to service development, governance, audit and quality improvement initiativesHelping to maintain a positive, supportive and learning focused team culture. What we're looking for We are looking for an experienced oncology nurse who combines strong clinical skills with a genuine passion for patient care and team development. You will have: NMC Registered Adult Nurse UK accredited Chemotherapy qualification with evidence of competencyExperience administering SACT treatmentsAt least 2 years post registration experience within an oncology settingExperience taking charge of shifts and supporting junior staffStrong communication, leadership and organisational skillsSACT and IV Passport competencyPhlebotomy, cannulation and CVAD management skills. Experience within ambulatory oncology services, Acute Oncology Services or private healthcare would be advantageous. Why join us?
