Job summary
Solihull Special Care Dental Service provides Special Care Dentistry and Paediatric Dentistry with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, across the borough of Solihull.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Dental Therapist to join our specialist team on a fixed term maternity cover contract. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing high-quality special care dental treatment to adults and children with a range of additional needs.
Working at Dental Clinic locations across the borough, on Mobile Dental Units in schools and providing domiciliary care.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be well-motivated and able to demonstrate a caring approach to patients, be well organised, flexible in their approach to work and have the ability to work well as part of a team in a variety of settings.
To be based at our clinic in Smiths Wood in North Solihull, to also work on our mobile dental units and at our clinic in Grove Road, Solihull. Involvement in oral health initiatives will also be part of this role.
This post is a 9 month fixed term contract, part time (22.5 hours) and the required days of working are: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday although we can offer some flexibility.

*Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC)

Holder of full driving license and use of a car is essential.

Experience Essential
*Clinical experience of working as a Dental Therapist *Experience of providing a range of dental care in adults and children with additional needs including learning disabilities, medically compromised and people with autism *Experience of working independently *A portfolio of continuing professional development including CPD relevant to the post. *Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance and its application to dentistry.
Desirable
Experience of working within a community dental service Has knowledge of programmes to prevent oral disease and promote healthy lifestyles, supporting patients, their families and carers Knowledge of the role and function of salaried primary care dental services and current developments in NHS dentistry and the NHS in general Experience in domiciliary care
