This post is based at Solihull Hospital, a site with a genuine family feel, deeply connected to the community it serves. As one of around 35 multi skilled trade professionals, you will join a collaborative Estates team delivering services across inpatient areas, outpatients and theatres. We are committed to developing, training and retaining skills within our own teams, reducing reliance on external contractors and ensuring quality, value for money and long term sustainability.

Main duties of the job
You will undertake planned, reactive and emergency maintenance across a complex estate, ensuring electrical systems, plant and associated infrastructure are safe, compliant and fully operational.
You will carry out inspection, testing, fault diagnosis, repair and commissioning of electrical installations and equipment in line with statutory legislation and Trust policies. Acting as a Competent Person, you will use approved isolation, permit to work and safe systems of work to ensure tasks are completed to a high standard.
The role involves managing and prioritising workloads, responding to routine and urgent requests while minimising disruption to clinical services. You will provide day to day technical oversight and guidance to maintenance assistants, apprentices and contractors, ensuring quality, safety and professionalism.
You will work both independently and as part of a wider multi trade team, contributing to service continuity through participation in the on call rota. Identifying risks, escalating defects and supporting continuous improvement are central to maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Qualifications Essential
Basic education to GCSE/'O' Level in Maths and English or post-Secondary Education training in a relevant field * NVQ Level 3 in a relevant Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering Discipline or BTEC/ONC in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering or City & Guilds of London Institute Certificate in either of the following Course 232 in Electrical and Electronic Craft Studies, Part 2 (232-2). Course 236 in Electrical Installation Work, Part 2 (236-2).
Experience Essential
Experience in a complex low voltage distribution systems and equipment * Completion of a registered apprenticeship or structured training program in Electrical Engineering * Training site experience * Electrical trouble shooting and fault finding
Desirable
Experience of working in an acute Hospital environment or similar demanding role * Motors and control systems * Variable Frequency Drives * Solar PV systems * HVAC Controls/ BMS * Smart lighting systems * Be multi skilled to make safe Mechanical/Electrical/Fabric Systems
