Paediatric Physiotherapist Cross Site role
We are looking for Physiotherapy band 7 Maternity leave cover within the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital Paediatric Physiotherapy Team.
This role with be based with the Chelsea and Westminster Acute Paediatric team, but will include cross site working at our Chelsea & Westminster and West Middlesex University Hospital sites.
There is a varied caseload which includes both inpatients and outpatients on the Chelsea site. The inpatient caseload covers the Paediatric High dependency unit, as well as general paediatric and maternity wards treating respiratory, neurological, orthopaedic, developmental and surgical patients. Our outpatient service covers an age range of 0-15.
The inpatient caseload at West Middlesex University hospital covers one main general paediatric ward with a variety of conditions.
There is a regular hospital bus service between the two sites, although the postholder could start or finish at either site. The role will include lone working, but initially there will be regular liaison and joint sessions with the team lead as required.
There are strong links with other members of the MDT so an inclusive team approach and excellent communication skills are essential. You will be expected to work independently, prioritising your workload and time, and supporting others to do the same. This post includes working on the hospital's Respiratory On-call and weekend service for both adults and children on the Chelsea site
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for and coordinate the day to day delivery of physiotherapy provision within the paediatric Acute team based at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. To work as an autonomous practitioner in providing physiotherapy assessment and treatment to a designated caseload and maintain up to date physiotherapy records. This role includes inpatients across both West Middlesex and Chelsea & Westminster, Musculoskeletal outpatients at Chelsea & Westminster and the potential for a small amount of neonates at Chelsea & Westminster. To work as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team providing a holistic service to the child and their family/carer. To use evidence based principles/current best practice and specialist skills to assess, plan implement and evaluate interventions and to ensure that all junior members of your team do likewise. To participate in CPD and other developmental activities and encourage all members of your team to do accordingly. To be responsible for the supervision, teaching and day to day line management of allocated junior staff and students on clinical placement.
