Job summary
The primary role of the Healthcare Assistant is to assist, support and work in collaboration with the nurse, consultant and the wider multidisciplinary team; in order to provide a safe and holistic approach to patient.
The healthcare assistant will be working in gynaecology outpatient and women's day unit covering different clinics, performing venepuncture chaperoning and assisting with outpatient procedures. We have various other clinics too, this include termination of pregnancy clinic.
This role involves 6 day service and will include weekend working.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to undertake a set of defined competencies in gynaecology, which includes Hysteroscopy, Colposcopy, Hycosy and Sonata procedures.

To ensure the effective running of the outpatient department assisting with any needs of clinics, medical staff and nurse specialists. Under indirect supervision take and record the patients observations as required and record on patient record inform the clinician if results are not within the normal parameters. Report physical and psychological changes in patients condition to the Registered Nurse, ensuring pain and distress are acted on promptly. Accurately record information in your patients record when required. To promote and safeguard the wellbeing of patients, their families and colleagues and escalate any concerns to the nurse in charge. Assist the patient to dress / undress if appropriate To assist in the Colposcopy clinic, providing support for the patient and clinician. To assist in the Hysteroscopy clinic, providing support for the patient and clinician. Ensuring adequate stock is available at all times. Check and restock clinic room. To assist the Registered Nurse caring for patients who are undergoing a trial without a catheter and attend to any needs specific to the patient To assist with the Termination of Pregnancy service and provide any duties that pertains to the patient group.

Education and Qualifications Essential
GSCE( A-C) English and Maths, or equivalent qualification Commit to undertake in-house training Care certificate
Desirable
Additional language NVQ Level 3 in Health care or equivalent experience
Experience Essential
Previous experience in caring role e.g. paid and unpaid relevant to the post. Working within a multi-disciplinary team. Competently organise and carry out designated work load within scope of previous training.

Experience of using hospital patient record system Previous experience in working in gynaecology.
