Job summary

The Patient Dining Supervisor is responsible for the operational leadership, coordination, and quality assurance of patient dining services across allocated wards and clinical areas. The post holder will work with a high level of autonomy, ensuring the delivery of a safe, efficient, and patient-centred meal service in line with NHS standards, food safety legislation, and Trust policies.

Main duties of the job

The role includes supervision and development of staff, oversight of daily service delivery, management of resources, monitoring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards, and contributing to service improvement initiatives. The post holder will deputise for management as required and act as a key point of contact for wards, dietitians, and clinical teams.

Person Specification

Education & professional Qualifications Essential

oNVQ level 2 or equivalent practical experience in catering environment oQualification in Food Hygiene Level 3 or above oWorking knowledge of food safety, allergen control, basic HACCP principles, and infection prevention procedures, gained through formal training and on-the-job experience. High School Diploma or Equivalent: basic educational qualification

Experience Essential

oSignificant previous experience at a supervisory level of catering supervision in a restaurant / hospitality operation oExperience supervising staff, including training, developing, and supervising a frontline service team. Experience working with infection control protocols and procedures, especially in clinical dining environments. Experience ensuring compliance with food hygiene, allergen procedures, health and safety, and infection control standards. safety, and infection control standards. Desirable

oExperience in dining or catering operations in a large or complex setting oExperience managing inventories, food stocks, budgets, and supplier relationships within catering or healthcare food services.
