Job summary

Are you a dynamic individual looking for a new challenge and development? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Tissue Viability Team. This is an excellent opportunity for an energetic and motivated healthcare practitioner who has a genuine desire to deliver a high standard of care in all aspects of wound care.The role entails the assessment and management of patients who have pressure ulcers, leg ulcers and other complex wound care needs. The successful applicant must have experience in leg ulcer and pressure ulcer management and existing wound care skills. They will be expected to undertake audits and educational programmes to clinicians and patients.

The potential post holder needs to be a committed and confident individual who is conscientious, dynamic, pro-active and has excellent communication and organisational skills.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will report professionally to the Lead Tissue Viability Nurse Specialist and have an active role in all aspects of wound care management within the Trust, including leg ulcer management, pressure ulcer prevention and management, and complex surgical wounds.

They will be required to be actively involved with educational programmes, projects and audits within all aspects of tissue viability agenda.

They will be required to undertake triage duties and manage the service in the absence of the Lead Tissue Viability Nurse Specialist.

They will be expected to have a natural personal resilience to inspire and motivate staff.

They will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to delivery of our world class care values and governing objectives to both staff and patients.

The post holder will work collaboratively with colleagues in the tissue viability team and other colleagues across the Trust to facilitate high quality individualised care to patients

They are expected to work with minimal close supervision.

Person Specification

Education & professional Qualifications Essential

First level registration Mentorship/ preceptorship or equivalent teaching qualification Working towards a degree or evidence of continuing education

Desirable

Wound management course and/or leg ulcer modules/relevant clinical experience

Experience Essential

Experience of MDT working Experience in managing complex wounds Experience of implementing change in a clinical setting Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines 3 years post registration experience

Skills and aptitude Essential

An understanding of quality, clinical risk, clinical governance, national benchmarks and other professional issues Good attendance record Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with attention to detail Knowledge of current advances in wound care, pressure ulcers and leg ulcer management

Desirable

Knowledge of research & audit methodology
