Job summary
UHCW NHS Trust is offering Apprenticeships to candidates keen to start a career in Payroll within the NHS.
The salary for the first six months is £8.00 per hour rising to £10.85 per hour dependent on progression for the remainder of the apprenticeship.
The Payroll Apprenticeship programme will provide post holders with the opportunity to learn vocational skills by working as part of a busy Payroll team, providing administrative support, whilst also studying towards a nationally recognised qualification in Payroll.
Working under supervision, the post holder will be required to achieve work-related competencies over the 15 month period in order to achieve the full Apprenticeship.
The full Apprenticeship will require post holders to complete:
Payroll Administrator Apprenticeship Standard Level 3
Functional Skills - Maths and English (Level 1) if not already achieved.
Post holders will be employed by UHCW on a 18-month Fixed Term Contract for the duration of the Apprenticeship programme and will be enrolled with a local education provider (MBKB) to undertake the payroll qualification.

You must be aged 16 or over
Be a Resident in the UK/ EEA for the last three years
Must NOT be in any form of formal government-funded education
Main duties of the job
Hours of work will be within the core office hours of 8.00am-6.00pm, working a maximum of 7.5 hours a day Monday to Friday for a minimum of 37.5 hours a week, and will include 20% on the job learning delivered using a combination of methods, they include workshops, webinars, online coaching, face to face coaching, conferences, self-study time, work-based development activities, employer led development activities, assessment and self-reflection time.
We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic, dedicated and able to demonstrate a high level of commitment to the Apprenticeship programme. You must also be willing to work within a busy Administrative team.
To undertake full training in all aspects of Payroll procedures, and the NHS Electronic Payroll System (ESR) To gain extensive knowledge of all Payroll regulations, terms and conditions of employment and statutory legislation. To be responsible, under supervision, for the effectiveness of correct payments of all staff in accordance with delegated financial responsibilities.

To gain knowledge of employment related Trust policies and Procedures toensure compliance and provide support to staff and management. To increase computer skills for speed and accuracy and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the all Payroll related databases. To gain extensive Payroll knowledge to enable the analysis and interpretation of calculations when assessing employees financial entitlements. Communicate at all levels, and at all times with the highest level of tact, sensitivity and diplomacy. Exercise well-mannered and positive interpersonal skills.
