Job summary
This is an additional post. It will attract 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) comprising 7.5 for Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 1.5 for Supporting Professional Activities (SPA).
A timetable is set out below with a two-weekly pattern of job plan providing a range of clinical activities to maintain skills. The job plan may evolve once the successful candidate is in place with mutual agreement.
Consultants within the department are expected to work with Anaesthesia Associates, supervising them in a 2:1 capacity, or 1:1 on a high turnover list or a list with higher ASA patients.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide consultant delivered anaesthetic services for all specialties (for which they have appropriate training), which will be allocated according to service need. The rota is published on a weekly basis and distributed to all relevant staff.
The post holder, in addition to clinical duties, will be expected to:-
Participate in continuing professional development and attain the required standards in CPD as set by the Royal College of Anaesthetists
Undertake teaching and training
Participate in both the appraisal and job planning processes
Be involved in and aware of the Clinical Governance issues of the Trust
Participate in clinical audit

Qualifications Essential
Relevant professional qualifications Degree from a recognised University
Desirable
FFPMRCA Qualification
Experience Essential
Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCST/CST Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the care of patients and offer expert clinical opinion in the specialty
Desirable
Training/experience in Intrathecal Pump management and refill Experience in undertaking ultrasound-guided interventional procedures. Ability to manage and lead the specialist unit if required
GMC Registration Essential
Eligible for entry in GMC specialist register (within 6 months) Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
