Job summary

Are you interested in physiology and all things breathing-related? We are looking for a motivated individual to come and join the respiratory physiology team here at UCLH. If you are interested in looking after patients; have good communication and organisational skills, along with the enthusiasm and drive to improve all aspects of patient care, then you could be just the person we are looking for.

The successful candidate will join the respiratory physiology team performing complex respiratory and sleep diagnostics across both the UCH and NHNN sites. The main focus of this role is it to help support the respiratory sleep service re-design and implementation of new consumable resupply system across our entire CPAP and NIV cohort. Independent analysis and reporting of both outpatient and inpatient complex respiratory sleep studies will also be a significant part of the role.

Main duties of the job

o Independent performance of all routine and specialised respiratory and sleep diagnosticso Have a working knowledge of routine and more specialised sleep studies including the ability to score and report multichannel sleep studies and transcutaneous CO2 studies.o Initiation of patients onto CPAP and NIV therapy, and optimisation of therapy thereafter and support the set up and running of a remote monitoring service for our domiciliary ventilated patientso To ensure all equipment is calibrated at the appropriate time and maintain good hygiene in both the lung function and sleep labs and troubleshoot technical problems relating to lung function and sleep equipment.o To provide technical support for any research undertaken within the lung function and sleep departments.o Support all junior member of the team in training and CPD within the department.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications Essential

BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent ARTP Practitioner qualification or equvalent RCCP/HCPC registered, or in process of registration

Desirable

STP Respiratory and Sleep Sleep MSc PG Diploma in Respiratory Science

Experience Essential

Minimum 5 years previous experience in lung function and sleep diagnostics Theoretical and practical knowledge of respiratory disorders, and the use of lung function tests Theoretical and practical knowledge of sleep related disorders and their treatment Previous experience in the use of domiciliary CPAP and NIV therapy Previous experience in working with patients with neuromuscular conditions

Communication Essential

Ability to liaise and work efficiently with staff of all levels Excellent written and oral communication

Personal and People Development Essential

Keep up with personal CPD Participate in training and mentoring junior staff and external trainees in achieving professional qualifications
