In order to support us on our journey, the Surgical Divisions are looking for a forward thinking and enthusiastic Business Manager to work closely with the General Manger for surgery to drive service improvement.
The successful applicant will support General Manager (GM) to ensure the provision of high quality, efficient and effective services. Supporting the development and delivery of service strategy, together with ensuring appropriate risk management processes are in place to deliver a safe, high quality, patient centered service.
Providing solutions and/or advice to staff in response to pressures that may affect throughput.
Supporting the GM with the responsibility for the delivery of key performance targets in line with local and national agreements.
Main duties of the job
Highly visible individual; key in ensuring standards of care for all patients and the safe, effective and efficient utilisation of resources Building strong and cohesive working relationships with the Clinical Leads and Matrons for areas of responsibility. Line management responsibility for a range of administration staff. Responsibility for the operational delivery aspects of delegated divisional areas. Supporting the GM, Clinical Leads and Matron in formulating strategic direction of services. Accountable for service delivery and the associated operational issues. Deputise for the GM.
Facilitate performance and service improvement policies and implement them as
Manage the resources with the aim of improving quality and productivity, working within the Division to achieve more effective use of resources and enhanced quality and productivity as appropriate.
Lead, manage and motivate staff within the operational area, ensuring appropriate management structures, policies and practices are in place to achieve high levels of performance.
Ensure that all national targets are met, including Clinical Quality Indicators.
Develop a whole systems/partnership culture within the divisional areas.
Promote the implementation of key HR initiatives/targets such as Agenda for Change and HR policies/practices.

Knowledge & Experience Essential
Experience of working at a senior/corporate level Demonstrable experience in leading, motivating and managing teams. Experience of strategic thinking at a senior level. Knowledge of key national NHS policy and strategies. Experience of budget management and staff management.

Qualifications & Training Essential
Educated to Master level or equivalent experience in a health related or relevant field
