Job summary

We are seeking an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to provide strong clinical and professional leadership on Ward 8, a busy 31-bedded acute vascular ward. The ward delivers complex care within a fast-paced environment and is supported by a well-established and extended multidisciplinary team.

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and forward-thinking leader to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the ward, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality patient-centred care. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent clinical expertise, strong leadership skills and a clear commitment to continuous service improvement.

You will lead, support and develop the Ward 8 nursing team, promote a positive learning culture, and work collaboratively with the MDT to maintain high standards of care, patient experience and staff wellbeing.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Band 7 leader with a strong background in acute vascular or surgical nursing, who can provide visible, compassionate and effective leadership within a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. You will demonstrate clinical expertise and professional credibility, enabling you to lead by example and support the delivery of safe, evidence-based care for patients with complex vascular conditions.

As a Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, you will have proven experience in ward leadership and operational management, including workforce planning, performance management, and supporting staff development. You will foster a positive, inclusive and learning-focused culture, ensuring staff are supported, engaged and empowered to deliver high-quality care.

You will work collaboratively with the vascular multidisciplinary team, contributing to service development, quality improvement initiatives, audit and governance activity, and ensuring national and local standards are embedded in practice. A strong focus on patient safety, quality outcomes, and patient experience is essential, alongside the ability to manage change, prioritise effectively and maintain oversight of a busy inpatient ward.

The successful candidate will be a forward-thinking and dynamic leader, committed to continuous improvement within vascular services and aligned with the Trust's values and expectations of senior nursing leadership.
