Job summary
The post holder will be responsible for the medical care of patients over the age of 65 admitted with rib fractures, head injuries, all routine traumatic non-femur fractures and select non-trauma patients. Part of the role is to provide routine cover Orthogeriatrics during leave. There is also scope within the job plan for further service development. This will be agreed with the successful candidate though it is anticipated this will involve improving patient care within the surgical directorate.
The post is based at Ealing Hospital and the post holder is expected to assist in the development of innovative Surgical Liaison service. The aim is to develop the existing service and in particular support the care of elderly patients admitted to the hospital under General Surgery. The appointee will play a key role in the development of the services and contribute to acute care of the surgical patients and provide medical support to the treatment plan and discharge planning.
Although the post is based at Ealing Hospital, there may be a requirement to work from any of LNWH Trust sites.

MRCP Experience in the management of older people

MD, PhD or equivalent
Knowledge & Expertise Essential
Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining (UK) CCST in General Medicine and Geriatric Medicine Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the care of patients. IT skills and computer literacy
