Job summary
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Patient Safety Manager to join our team on a part-time basis (3 days per week), supporting services across the Midlands and North West regions of England; Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Stockton-on-Tees.
This is a hybrid role offering flexibility, though it will require regular travel, including occasional overnight stays. Adequate notice will always be provided. This role will cover our Integrated Urgent Care services (including 111, out of hours, clinical assessment services and GP practices).
You will play a key role in promoting a strong culture of safety, ensuring high standards of care, and supporting continuous improvement across a diverse portfolio of services. Utilise your experience in governance and quality improvement initiatives, with the ability to lead and influence patient safety practices across multiple sites. You will be responsible for analysing trends, supporting compliance with relevant standards, and embedding robust quality frameworks that drive measurable improvements in care delivery.
This role requires strong stakeholder engagement skills, as you will work closely with both internal teams (including service leads and senior management) and external partners such as Integrated Care Boards (ICBs). You will be confident in building relationships, providing expert guidance, and ensuring alignment with strategic quality objectives.
Main duties of the job
To lead the development and implementation of the Practice Plus Group Quality Governance strategy
Developing systems of work to influence measure and evidence continuous quality improvement and assurance.
Working in partnership with a broad of internal and external Health Care partners.
This involves leading Quality Governance activities across the assigned region, throughout the patient journey.
Supporting the implementation of the NHS England Patient Safety Strategy through the development of the local quality governance agenda; Managing local programmes Organising quality governance activities Providing subject matter expertise to investigations Identifying opportunities for organisational learning and Quality Improvement. You will lead and co-ordinate a number of key areas which contribute significantly to the ensuring services are safe, effective and patient centred.
About us
Educated to Degree level or equivalent extensive professional knowledge of Quality Governance or Quality control and assurance
Knowledge of UK health services or delivery of health care
Demonstrable Experience in two or more of the following areas:
Data Management Systems Data management and Analysis Quality Audit Risk Management Quality Effectiveness Research and Development experience Standards Review/development Experience in leading external visits/accreditation by external agencies
Experience in managing and leading teams
A fully supportive and integrated team player contributing to effective performance in achieving strategic, national and local Quality Governance objectives.
Ability to allocate, manage and prioritise workload to ensure national and organisational guidelines are met and that deadlines are adhered to
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate an all-round professional attitude especially under pressure with deadlines and conflicting interests
