About this role

Job summary

*To look after labour, day to day maintenance of the building fabric and surrounding buildings.

*To monitor and manage the sickness and annual leave of the team.

*Work on their own initiative to undertake maintenance, repairs, minor improvements and capital work across the trust.

*Efficiently manage resources including: Labour, materials and stock and to laisse with external contractors in order to identify, source and order replacement parts for breakdowns

*To take part in the estate departments on-call duties to ensure out of hours emergencies are attended to.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

City & Guilds of London Institute Craft Certificate in a relevant building or construction discipline, Plus, City & Guilds of London Institute Advanced Craft Certificate in a relevant building or construction discipline, Or, An equivalent qualification such as NVQ Level 3 in a relevant Building or Construction discipline. Or, BTEC/ONC in Building or Construction Services.

Desirable

*HNC in construction and the built environment or equivalent *PASMA *IPAF *IOSHH

Experience Essential

Completion of a registered apprenticeship or structured training program in Building or Construction for a minimum of 3 years, Plus Post training, site experience having demonstrated high versatility and flexibility. And Background in Building or Construction installation, alteration, maintenance or repair. And Experience of Building fabric, equipment and woodworking machinery.

Desirable

Previous experience of working in an acute Hospital environment or similar demanding role. Knowledge of a broad range of Building or construction services. Previous supervisory experience

Additional Criteria Essential

Clear and effective in verbal and written communications. Ability to work without supervision and confident to make decisions based on own ability. Adaptable to change. Capable working to deadlines Available for undertaking overtime. Physically demanding role requiring manual handling of loads, extremes of temperature and the ability to work at heights or in confined spaces. Appreciation of his/her own limitations Available to take part in estates department on-call rota

Desirable

Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and outlook Clean driving license to drive trust vehicles and plant when required
