Job summary
St Teresas Hospice, Darlington is seeking Health Care Assistants to join our Inpatient Unit team.

We have 12.5 hours available. Usual working pattern: 12.5 hour full day or night shift on the In Patient Unit rota, including weekdays and weekends - staff must be flexible to the needs of the unit.
St Teresas Hospice Band 3, Full time equivalent £25, 011.00 to £26, 228.00 (£8, 337.00 to £8, 742.67 actual based on 12.5 hours per week) per annum plus enhanced rates for unsociable hours.

Main duties of the job
We are a forward thinking, inclusive registered Charity with Inpatient, Outpatient and Community services, providing care and support to palliative patients and their families in their own homes and at St Teresas Hospice.
Our IPU Healthcare Assistants are an integral part of our team, with a strong commitment to working with palliative care patients and their carers, providing a high standard of care at all times. You will be based within the Inpatient Unit, and required to work across all Hospice services as and when required.
The successful candidate will have:
NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, an equivalent qualification or equivalent experience Experience of working in the NHS or an equivalent healthcare setting Knowledge of care giving, and understanding of the principles of holistic care and palliative care Availability to work shifts on a rota, including day, evening and night work, during the week and at weekends

Qualifications Essential
