Job SummaryThis position is located at the United States Mint in Philadelphia in the Production Maintenance Division. As an Industrial Equipment Maintenance Leader, you will be responsible for leading work operations of Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanics, WG-2606-11/12, Production Machinery Mechanics, WG-5350-11, Toolmaker WG-3416-13, and may lead Maintenance Mechanics, WG-4749-10, Electricians WG-2805-10, Elevator Mechanics WG-5313-10 and Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanics WG-5306-10.
QualificationsYou must meet the following requirements within 14 days of the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. You must meet the screen-out element Ability To Lead Or Supervise, normally addressed at the beginning of the online questions. To meet the screen-out element, applicants must have: Experience in a production maintenance work leader or supervisor position performing a few personnel and administrative duties such as; organize, assign and direct work assignments. In addition, you must also obtain an average score of two (2) for the following elements for this position as addressed through the online question in order to be considered minimally qualified. Your application will be evaluated in the following areas: Ability To Lead Or Supervise (screen-out), Knowledge of Materials, Knowledge of Equipment, Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc., Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic), and Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading).
Major DutiesAs an Industrial Equipment Maintenance Leader, you will: Relaying job assignments received from the supervisor and making specific assignments to ensure proper job sequence, most effective and efficient use of labor, materials, and equipment are met Demonstrating proper work methods and procedures Insuring that required plans, blueprints, procedures, materials, and tools are available Obtaining needed information or decisions from supervisors on problems that come up during the work-day Maintaining a current knowledge, and answering questions of other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives (e.g. technical orders)RequirementsAll employees must wear face masks while on MINT property when required by CDC and Federal guidelines. All newly appointed employees to the competitive (or excepted) service are subject to a probationary (or trial) period. During this time, your performance, conduct, and suitability for continued employment will be evaluated. You will not automatically convert to permanent status at the end of the probationary (or trial) period. Your supervisor must affirmatively determine that continued employment is in the best interest of the Federal service. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S. Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis. Assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be able to work all shifts on a rotational basis. May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc. Pass a pre-employment physical examination. Work is performed outside, in inclement weather, and inside in an industrial environment where exposure to loud noise exists. There is a danger to skin and eyes and other parts of the body. Use of protective items is required. Adherence to all safety procedures is required. Work involves standing, walking, bending, climbing. The work also involves lifting up to 40 pounds.
