Major DutiesYou will serve as a Planner/ Estimator and be responsible for planning for construction, maintenance, repair, or manufacturing projects by determining facilities, equipment, material, and numbers and categories of shop personnel required of Coast Guard assets in the assigned area of responsibility, and elsewhere when directed by IOD. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Providing estimates of Industrial Service Orders (ISO), which normally contain advanced work lists, design plans, manufacturing requests, preliminary man-time estimates, engineering plans, blue prints or drawings including specifications and material lists; and is directly responsible for ISO prioritization which requires experience in and knowledge of trade and labor work. Analyzing ISO's that normally contain advanced work lists, design plans, manufacturing requests, preliminary man-time estimates, engineering plans and specifications and material lists; and prepares overall preliminary schedules.. Coordinating development of an estimate of labor and materials from shop supervisors as the circumstance dictates, or utilizes standard estimates created for repeat work items.. Analyzing work to be accomplished in the light of accepted trade practices, pertinent specifications, drawings, and sketches. Creating and maintaining production schedules utilizing modern computer scheduling programs such as MS Project or Primavera. Estimating total man-time requirements, and details labor cost by shop, using engineered performance standards, when available, historical data, and by the application of knowledge acquired as a tradesman. Developing a database of estimates for common work items from historical data and applies these estimates when scheduling similar new work. Reviewing master production schedule to determine if an Industrial Production Facility (IPF) or an Industrial Production Detachment (IPD) has the available resources to complete the requested work by the desired completion date.RequirementsAll qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
