An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Specialist Eating Disorder Service. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, self motivated and innovative individual with an interest in specialising in this field of adult mental health. Your role will be to assist in the planning, implementing and evaluating the holistic care afforded to our patients, supporting them throughout their stay within the unit.

A degree of flexibility in approach is required along with a willingness to learn whilst working in an environment that can at times be challenging.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will support qualified / senior nurses in the delivery of direct care to clients. Clinical support workers have a vital role to play in observing client actions, interactions, reporting these in a clear concise manner. You will also work collaboratively with other Trust services to provide seamless care for clients on defined care-pathways, as well as working in partnership with agencies external to the Trust supporting client's access to services in the independent and non-statutory sector.

o To provide support and spend therapeutic time with clients.o To promote client's recovery through the delivery of high quality, outcome measured care and evidence-based interventions.o To assist Registered Professionals in the implementation and evaluation of individualised care plans.o Regularly report and effectively communicate client's health status and care aims in care records and verbal reports to Registered Professional Staff members and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.o To assist or act on behalf of those clients who cannot maintain their own personal health / hygiene and well-being.o Have a basic understanding of and willingness to learn about Naso Gastric (NG) feeding / PEG feeding, supporting the qualified member of staff with setting up NG feeds / Peg feeds and monitoring them.o To assist clients in the maintenance of activities of daily living.

Person Specification

Experience & Qualifications Essential

Has experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team and has previous care experience. Possesses a basic knowledge of the nature and symptoms of anorexia nervosa.

Desirable

NVQ 2 in Health and Social Care with demonstrable evidence of numeracy and literacy skills (equivalent GCSE's or Functional Skills). Possesses basic skills in word processing and information technology.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Essential

Is keen to undertake basic training to ensure that continuous learning takes place. Communicates effectively, both verbally and in written form, possess listening skills and a strong client centred value base. Has the capacity and is willing to work shifts, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
