Cardiology Booking and Support Officer
Salary: (Band 3) £25,760 - £27,476 pro rata, per annum
Permanent Position
Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)
We are seeking a motivated and organised individual to join our busy Cardiology team, providing a patient-focused administrative service. This role supports the coordination of outpatient appointments and ensures effective communication with patients and colleagues.
You will handle telephone enquiries from patients, visitors and GP practices in a professional and courteous manner, while supporting the booking, cancellation and rescheduling of appointments in line with waiting time targets. This includes contacting patients to offer appointments, issuing confirmations, and informing them of any changes.
Working closely with the wider team, you will help maintain accurate information and support the smooth running of daily services, including liaising with GP practices to obtain referral details when required.
The successful candidate will have strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a busy healthcare environment while maintaining high standards of patient care and confidentiality.
Main duties of the job
To work as a member of a flexible team enabling and supporting patients through the booking of outpatient services according to NHS plan access targets in a knowledgeable and courteous manner. To provide a professional, accurate and courteous appointments and reception service within the Cardiology Booking Service for the Cardiology acute and CDC service. To undertake a wide variety of roles encompassing patient appointments and receptionist duties in an outpatient setting, within Organisation and Departmental guidelines. Qualifications Essential
Good standard of secondary education equivalent to 5 GCSEs Experience of working in a team Relevant experience preferably in a healthcare setting Ability to use Word, Email and Hospital IT systems NVQ Level 2 in appropriate subject or relevant business administration experience in a healthcare or client facing role
