Job summary

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Salaried General Practitioner to join our supportive and well-established GP practice. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality, safe, and patient-centred primary medical care to our registered population.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced GP or a recently qualified GP looking to develop their career within a friendly, collaborative, and forward thinking general practice. Flexible working arrangements may be considered.

We are ideally looking for a GP who can undertake 6 to 8 sessions per week.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will deliver a full range of general medical services, providing face-to-face, telephone and digital consultations as appropriate. Responsibilities include the assessment, diagnosis and management of acute and chronic conditions, safe and effective prescribing, undertaking home visits when clinically indicated, and making appropriate referrals to secondary care and community services. The role also involves maintaining accurate and timely clinical records, participating in clinical governance, audits and quality improvement activity, contributing to safeguarding and health promotion initiatives.

Hours: 6-8 sessions per week

Job Purpose

To provide comprehensive, high-quality general medical services to the practice population and to contribute to the ongoing development of primary care services within the practice.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care and Patient ManagementThe delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population.The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract.The provision of home visits where clinically appropriate, including the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients unable to attend the practice, in line with practice policy and local guidelines.To clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective and plan clinical care accordingly, referring patients to other services/agencies in a timely manner, utilising practice and any other local guidelines.Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent, or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.Effective management of long-term conditions.Support the delivery of anticipatory care plans.Prescribing and Medicines ManagementGeneric prescribing, adhering to local and national guidance.Review medications following the appropriate policies, NICE/local clinical guidelines, and local care pathways.Health Promotion and Preventative CareTo support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self-care.Administrative Responsibilities and Record KeepingProcessing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests, and other associated administrative tasks.Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy, and guidance.Team Working and CollaborationWork collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload.Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required.Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement.To be an integral part of the general practice team as well as supporting the wider network and multi-disciplinary team.Quality Improvement, Governance and Practice DevelopmentAdhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process.Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice.Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice, including clinical governance and training.Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF).Professional Responsibilities and ComplianceBe aware of duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation and adhere to practice policies and procedures on Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children.Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies.Ensure compliance with the appraisal process.Prepare and complete the revalidation process to remain fit to practise.Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team.Additional DutiesThere may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Fully qualified GP Full General Medical Council (GMC) registration Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP

Evidence of other specialist interest /development / training

Experience Essential

Ability to both work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team Experience of working in a primary care environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including accurate clinical record-keeping Understanding of clinical governance processes Knowledge of safeguarding adults and children

General understanding of the primary care contract Experience of triage and effective clinical assessment
