Job summary

Join the main ultrasound department at Royal Berkshire and put your specialist skills at the centre of a service that truly values professional and patient-centred compassionate care.

You'll use your expertise to independently perform and report a wide range of scans, working within a team where clinical excellence is the standard.

Our sonographers are supported by our lead sonographer, a practice educator as well as a team of RDAs and radiologists.

We are proud of our preceptorship which provides a framework for sonographers to progress to 8A.

The department is accredited by QSI and is fortunate to be a University of Reading department showing our commitment to patient care and research.

Main duties of the job

Performing and range of ultrasound scans within the main radiology department (please note, obstetric scanning is not performed within the department).

Reporting findings and making appropriate recommendations.

Job description Job responsibilities

The postholder will function as an effective member of the Ultrasound team, providing a high quality, comprehensive and efficient Ultrasound service to patients and referring clinicians; to include the timely issue of diagnostic reports, based on Ultrasound findings

The postholder will undertake all aspects of work in the Ultrasound Department, as appropriate to grade, including the supervision and mentoring of more junior staff.

The postholder will exercise autonomy within professional and managerial boundaries.
