Job description Job responsibilities

To work as one of a team of Drs and nurses delivering general practice services to patients registered at Belgrave Medical Centre.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To undertake non-urgent and urgent consultations for registered and temp patients. To undertake telephone / triage consultations To work as part of the online triage team To undertake Home visits To undertake On-call clinics and extended hours To check and sign patient prescriptions To complete the process of daily patient test results To produce medical reports as when required To complete administration of relevant paperwork including referrals To record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes Supervisor nursing staff in matters relating to the treatment of patients To participate in relevant training and mentorship Attend and participate in any Clinical Meetings To carry out audits as required Keep up to date with advances in medicine and practices and support other medical and clinical staff to do the same Maintain own continuous professional development (CPD) and contribute to own enhance personal development performance through continuously developing own knowledge and skills to meet the current and future requirements of the job and respond to the learning needs of the service and by participating in island GPs annual appraisal Be involved in ensuring that QOF/QIF and Enhanced Service targets are met Work with management team to achieve standards of quality performance budgets and targets without compromising patient healthcare Liaise with the Senior Partner / Practice Manager in the overall functioning and efficiency of the practice To share and utilise areas of practice with peers and non-clinical colleagues to inform and enhance patient care To liaise with local health services, Hospitals, Walk in Centres, Social Services, District Nursing Team, Palliative Care teams and other external services when a patient referral or specialist advice is required To be aware of current Safeguarding processes and refer as appropriate to Social Services/other external agencies. Adhere to the local clinical pathways To guide prescribing staff so that, prescribing and medicines management is safe and effective and as appropriate, comforms to:

NICE guidance and DH directions Good Prescribing Practice as defined by British National Formulary (BNF) guidance from Royal Pharmaceutical Society Controlled Drugs legislation Shared protocols agreed between the ICB and other NHS providers Locally specified Patient Group Direction

To inform senior colleagues of any factors affecting delivery of the service as soon as they arise To raise concerns around risk, malpractice or wrongdoing at work, which may affect patients, staff or the organisation, at the earliest reasonable opportunity Be supportive of any complaints policy and procedure to ensure proper investigation and appropriate follow up actions. To adhere to all practice policies procedures and guidelines To comply with the standards set out in the contract of employment To undertake any other duties as appropriate to the role

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

MBChB or equivalent - Registered on National Performers List - Understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance - Importance of evidence based practice & clinical effectiveness - Ability to take independent clinical decisions when necessary and to seek further advice from colleagues as appropriate - Ability to manage own time and work load - Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team or independently - Excellent communication skills written and verbal - Excellent interpersonal skills ability to communicate sensitively with patients, relatives and staff - Able to make good clear concise medical notes - Knowledge of the NHS - Ability to work across different clinical environments and with multi- disciplinary teams - Excellent time keeping skills - Can demonstrate honesty, integrity and appreciation of ethical dilemmas - Excellent negotiation and conflict management skills - Ability to undertake flexible working - Willingness to undertake any training for the role as and when r required - Willingness to undertake audits and appraisals as necessary - Ability to use own judgment - GP vocational or add experience in general practice - Commitment to CPD - Potential to cope with stressful situations and work under pressure - Able to undertake responsibility - Understand the need for strict confidentiality - Able to manage change

Desirable

MRCGP / DRCOG - RCGP Membership to other professional body - Valid Basic Life Support Certificate - Valid Level 3 Safeguarding -Evidence of participation in, progressing and completing clinical audit cycles - Knowledge of Emis - IT skills including Microsoft Office - Knowledge of the NHS
