Job summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate experienced Phlebotomist to join our Practice part-time, working 16-20 hours a week over 4 or 5 mornings a week.
The successful applicant will work closely with medical professionals and the admin team to provide high-quality assistance within a general practice environment. The post is a permanent position on completion of successful six month probationary period. Salary to be negotiated.
A driving licence is essential as you will be required to work across all 5 surgery sites.
Main duties of the job
Phlebotomists must provide reassurance to patients. They must also look after the mental and physical wellbeing of their patients. The primary duties and responsibilities of a Phlebotomist include:
Using technical equipment to safely draw blood from patients
Explaining the process of drawing blood clearly to a patient
Reassuring and calming patients who might be nervous or scared of the procedure
Applying dressings to the wound created by drawing blood
Registering the blood and storing it in the correct environment
Sending blood samples to testing laboratories
Keeping track of blood samples and results that are returned after testing
Updating patient records
Maintaining an organised and clean work area based on health and safety regulations and infection control guidelines
Answering patient questions regarding collection techniques and offering additional resources on the collection process, if the patient requests them
Attend and contribute to team meetings
Work in accordance with written protocols and policies
Deal with emails tasks and other forms of communication

Good standard of general education 5 GCSE grade A-C or equivalent Word Processing / Information technology Phlebotomist experience

European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)
