Job summary

We currently have an exciting and flexible opportunity to join our pioneering and growing group of GP surgeries. A vacancy has arisen for us to recruit a Salaried GP to our Practice team.

As the biggest provider of GP services in the North West, we currently have 40+ surgery locations all rated as good or outstanding with CQC. SSP Health cares for over 155,000 patients. We pioneered groups of practices, and associated centralised function, almost 20 years ago, allowing us to innovate to both improve patient care and enhance the wellbeing of our GPs. We are in the process of creating a centralised administrative hub which will allow us to further centralise, removing the day-to-day administrative burden from our GPs.

About us

If you join SSP Health, you will be providing clinical care in a strong, friendly team with other healthcare professionals including pharmacists and ANPs as well as working collaboratively as part of the PCNs we are involved in. We also have highly-efficient admin teams and central support that allows our doctors to focus on what they trained to do treat and care for patients. There are opportunities for leadership without the full responsibility of partnerships.

The successful applicant will be fully qualified, be motivated to provide excellent patient care and want to develop clinical services within the practice. We want to hear from newly qualified GPs as well as experienced doctors with skills to deliver enhanced services.

Job description Job responsibilities

Clinical responsibilities:

In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness

In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health

Providing counselling and health education

Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards

Collecting data for audit purposes

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)

Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Other responsibilities within the organisation:

Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
