Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Trust as a locum Consultant Medical Oncologist covering breast and lung cancer.

There are chemotherapy infusion suites to treat cancer patients at The Royal Free, Finchley Memorial, North Middlesex and Chase Farm health units whilst radiotherapy is delivered at the Royal Free and North Middlesex health units.

The Trust is one of the highest volume providers of breast and lung cancer care within London.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will join the oncology team at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust (RFL) as an 8PAlocum consultant in breast and lung cancer. The post will be working at The Royal Free and Barnet healthunits. The successful candidate will join an existing multi-disciplinary team in breast and lung cancer. The post2 holder will support the delivery of systemic therapy in breast cancer at Royal Free and lung cancer at Barnethospital. Additionally, the position had the opportunity to lead the AOS service at Barnet hospital.

Person Specification

Education and Professional Qualifications Essential

MBBS or equivalent medical qualification Membership of the Royal College of Physicians Accreditation by the RCP or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT (or equivalent) at time of interview Eligible for GMC registration and entry onto the GMC Specialist Register in the area of Medical Oncology

Desirable

Post graduate medical degree eg MD / PhD

Experience Essential

Experience and commitment to multi-disciplinary working Wide experience in oncology Experience of breast, lung and acute oncology Experience and an interest in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching Clinical audit experience Clinical trials experience Experience of acute oncology Proven clinical ability in Medical Oncology The ability to work as a member of a collaborative group The authority, decision-making skills needed to lead a multidisciplinary team in a complex environment The ability to promote teamwork and motivate colleagues Ability to organise and prioritise workload to delegate responsibly as appropriate and to supervise doctors in training and other staff Willingness to be personally accountable for actions Ability and commitment to teach in a clinical setting Leadership skills and the ability to take forward service developments Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
