We are seeking to recruit a Mental Health Practitioner for 37.5 hours per week to join the Healthcare Facility, Bulford, Salisbury. Requests to work flexibly and/or part time will be considered, taking into account business needs.

Main duties of the job
The Mental Health Practitioner will work within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) setting to provide a specialised/occupational mental health service for all Service and entitled personnel within the designated Department of Community Mental Health (DCMH)/Mental Health Team (MHT) and Defence Mental Health Network (DMHN) as required.
The post holder will require robust clinical and risk assessment skills and be able to understand how they apply to the occupational role and needs of individuals presenting to the service.
As a significant component of the role, the post holder will conduct risk assessments, prepare and implement risk management plans and initiate appropriate action where indicated (including requests for mental health act assessments and inpatient admission).
To keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols including clinical outcome data. Use these records and clinical outcome data in clinical decision making.

Duties and responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
To provide a timely and high-quality mental health service to all patients referred to the DMHN for assessment and treatment of mental health presentations.To contribute to the management of a clinical caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, which will be delivered in the DCMH/DMHN setting.Provide Mental Health assessment, routine and urgent, including risk assessment and formulation of the mental health and treatment needs for referred patients, acting as care-coordinator. Requests to work flexibly and/or part time will be considered, taking into account business needs. Please note the salary will be pro-rata where part time hours are undertaken.

Person Specification
Experience Essential
Experience of working with people with mental health problems. Able to demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge of mental health practice from previous experience. Knowledge of Community Mental Health Framework (CMHF) formerly care programme approach. Understanding and contribution to the Clinical Governance Agenda. Previous experience in similar role. Risk assessment experience. Crisis resolution and risk management experience.
Desirable
Experience and training in delivering National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommended psychological interventions for common mental disorders. Skills and experience in running clinical and psychoeducation groups. Experience and training in the supervision of other staff. Post graduate qualifications in an evidence based psychological therapy. Have at least 18 months post qualification experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies Essential
Ability to carry out comprehensive mental health assessments and make decisions about ways to positively manage risk. Skills in effective risk assessment and risk management. Ability to devise creative and effective care packages for common mental disorders in adult mental health.
