Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide primary care, occupational, aviation and emergency care, including airfield emergency medical support advice, to all entitled personnel at Royal Navy Air Station (RNAS) Yeovilton and Merrifield airfield.
RNAS Yeovilton Naval Air Station is the Royal Navy's largest Air Station and one of the largest Helicopter bases in Europe. It is home to His Majesty's Ship (HMS) Heron, Wildcat Maritime Force, Commando Helicopter Force, 1AAC and a number of other Units with a variable patient population of circa 3000 service personnel.
Primary physical workplace is expected to be RNAS Yeovilton Medical Centre. However, to support business needs the incumbent may on occasion be required to work from other medical centres within a reasonable distance. Travel time above usual commute will be within the working day, and travel costs incurred above standard commute will be repaid.

Job description Job responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
Deliver healthcare outputs that support the needs of Defence in accordance with DPHC Priorities as directed by Principle Medical Officer (PMO). Deliver quality outcomes in primary healthcare to the entitled population and participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve individual and population health. To diagnose, prescribe, treat and recommend disposal of primary care patients. To carry out Occupational, Aviation and Underwater Medicine Examinations. Full training will be provided on these aspects where required. To supervise the clinical practice and continuing education of the General Duties Medical Officer (GDMO) and General Practitioner (GP) Specialty trainees, when borne. Training will be provided where required on supervisory aspects of the role.Please refer to the attached Job Description and Person Specification for the full list of duties.
