Following the retirement of our Chief Nurse, we are seeking an exceptional and accomplished leader. The successful candidate will be an existing Chief Nurse or an experienced Deputy Chief Nurse from a comparable organisation, ready to lead nursing and Allied Health Professionals across our organisation and its distinctive model of care.

As Chief Nurse and Executive Director at one of the UK's leading cancer centres, the post holder will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the Trust's nursing and AHP strategy, driving quality, efficiency, and sustainable improvement in clinical services and patient experience.

Main duties of the job

As a key member of the Executive Team, this is an opportunity to build on the excellent work that underpins our success. Qualifications and Registration Essential

Registered nurse with current NMC registration Educated to degree level, ideally masters, or equivalent experience

Knowledge and experience Essential

Significant senior nursing leadership experience within a complex healthcare organisation ideally at Board-level or equivalent responsibility Proven record of improving patient safety, clinical quality, patient experience and outcomes at scale, including measurable quality improvement Experience of leading services through change, including service redesign and transformation, while maintaining safe care and staff engagement Demonstrated ability to provide operational grip and professional leadership, using data and insight to improve quality and workforce performance Experience of championing professional standards, patient involvement, and equality, diversity and inclusion in care and workforce Evidence of leading high-performing nursing and multidisciplinary teams and developing positive organisational cultures Successful partnership leadership across complex systems and diverse communities, influencing improvement beyond organisational boundaries Experience of delivering transformation, innovation and quality improvement, including embedding improvement methods and capability Experience of managing resources and contributing to financial stewardship through safe, effective workforce deployment and service improvement Experience of leading and assuring clinical governance, risk management and response to serious incidents, working closely with senior clinical leaders Deep understanding of national and local quality, patient safety and nursing policy and the context for specialised and cancer services within the NHS Strong appreciation of population health, inequalities and community needs, and how nursing leadership can help reduce unwarranted variation Significant knowledge of effective clinical governance and assurance frameworks, including CQC standards, safeguarding, IPC and quality reporting Understanding of education and academic partnerships, research participation and innovation in nursing and clinical care
