Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the most forward thinking, innovative and proactive Therapies teams in the East of England!
This role will be working with the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy teams across the Colchester Hospital Site.
It offers the opportunity to rotate within therapies to clinical specialties such as Respiratory Medicine, Surgical wards, Critical Care, Stroke Unit, Orthopaedics: Trauma and Elective, Medical wards, and Older peoples services. We are also proposing to extend our rotational scheme to our community hospital sites in the near future.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Therapy assistant to work with the team to assess, treat and complete referrals for a wide variety of patients.You should have experience of working in rehabilitation ideally within an NHS setting, be enthusiastic and keen to work with the Therapies team to provide an excellent service. You will need to have good communication and organisation skills, be a team worker and able to use your own initiative.
The ideal candidate would be educated to Foundation degree/ level 5 Qualification in Healthcare / Sport and Exercise Science or similar.
You will be supported by qualified therapists, working within a competency framework and will be given all necessary training for the job. You will manage your own workload and participate in team and service development.
You will be expected to work weekends, approximately 1 in 5, as part of our 7 day service.

Person Specification
Quaification Essential
GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths or equivalent Level 3 Qualification in Health and Social Care OR Foundation degree (Level 5) / BSc (Level 6) in Healthcare or Sports Science Care Certificate
Desirable
Associate membership of CSP/ RCOT GCSE grade C/4 or above in a science subject
Knowledge Essential
Understanding of role of Physiotherapy and / or Occupational Therapy Knowledge of basic rehabilitation assessment and therapy interventions, exercise prescription and monitoring
Personal Skills Essential
Ability to work across a 7 day shift pattern and all ESNEFT sites in North East Essex Effective communication skills - verbal and written English, and ability to adapt communication style to patients needs. IT skills
Desirable
Experience of using NHS clinical systems - e.g. EPIC / Systemone Experience of managing own time / delegated caseload

Experience working as a physiotherapy and/or Occupational therapy assistant.
