Job summary
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Specialist Doctor on a full-time basis based at North Tyneside General Hospital and supporting the delivery of our trust wide service.
The Mental Health Services for Older People is busy, friendly and dynamic. It benefits from close working relations with physician colleagues, particularly in Care of the Elderly Medicine. The service is based in modern accommodation on the North Tyneside General Hospital site.

Main duties of the job
The post will primarily provide its time into our Memory Clinic and Young Onset Dementia Service with time supporting the MHSOP Community Mental Health Teams including managing long term conditions alongside a specialist MHSOP pharmacist.
The post involves providing clinical supervision of a foundation trainee working into the Memory Clinic, as well as future opportunities to be involved with undergraduate and postgraduate education, depending on the applicant's interest.

Job description Job responsibilities
Jointly responsible for the provision of older peoples Mental Health Services to the elderly population of North Tyneside, numbering approximately 30,000. The post holder will work with managers and professional colleagues in ensuring maximum efficiency of the service.
Manage personal workload in such a way to ensure, where possible, service contract levels are achieved. Participate in the provision of cover on a shared basis with colleagues for periods of annual and study leave.
Provide continuing clinical responsibility for patients under his/her care and assume responsibility for and facilitate contact from members of staff with delegated duties for personally accountable patient care.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification Full registration and a License to Practice with the General Medical Council (GMC)
Experience Essential
Evidence of a minimum of 12 years post qualification clinical experience, with a minimum of 6 years in a relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and/or closed SAS grades Experience of, and commitment to, teaching and training within the specialty Experience of clinical audit
