Job summary
Northumberland House Surgery in Kidderminster are looking to recruit a part-time Receptionist for their busy surgery serving 13800 patients in the Wyre Forest.
Main duties of the job
The job involves:
working on the front reception desk dealing with patients, dealing with queries from the whole practice team as required, dealing with telephone queries fitting into a busy and professional reception team covering an array of patient focussed tasks.
About us
Experience in a healthcare setting is essential and knowledge of EMIS Clinical system very desirable and you must be able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills through previous roles.
The successful applicant will be required to work part time, 12 hours per week Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 2.30pm-6.30pm. Please do not apply if you are unable to commit to these shifts.
You will be required to provide holiday and absence cover for your colleagues by mutual agreement.
Salary will be dependent upon experience and you will be eligible for membership of the NHS Pension scheme and a uniform will be provided.
Job description Job responsibilities
GENERAL DUTIES:
Arrange appointments with patients accurately and monitor flow of patients into consulting and treatment rooms when they attend the practice.
Monitor effectiveness of appointment system and report any problems or variations required.
Ensure that patients without appointments but who need urgent consultation are dealt with in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
Ensure correspondence, reports, results, etc, are filed in correct record.
Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover, ensure procedures are completed.
Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors.
Enter requests for home visits including all relevant information and where necessary refer to doctor on-call.
Action requests for ambulance transportation in line with practice protocol.
Ensuring all messages and relevant information are recorded for the doctors and Nurse Practitioners attention.
Following start and end-of-day procedure when called upon to do so
Any other duties requested at the discretion of the Practice Manager.
