Job summary

This role will receive, assist & direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. The role will also provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Main duties of the job

Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments. Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed. Receive and deal with telephone calls as quickly and efficiently as possible. Action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient within 48 hours, either on the computer or manually. Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same. Enter patient information on to the computer as required. Summarise patient records Patient notes and correspondence: Ensure hospital correspondence, reports, results etc are scanned/filed promptly and in the correct patient computerised records

Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately

About us

Ellergreen Medical Centre is a large practice in Norris Green, Liverpool. We have a team of 10 GP's, 1 ANP, 4 Practice Nurses and 2 HCA's. Alongside our clinical team we have a supportive administration team. We also have a Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician and are part of the North Liverpool Primary Care Network.

Job responsibilities:

Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments. Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed. Receive and deal with telephone calls as quickly and efficiently as possible. Make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery. Enter requests for home visits onto the computer, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details. Action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient within 48 hours, either on the computer or manually. Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same. Enter patient information on to the computer as required. Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths or equivalent

Experience Essential

Experience working in an office/reception environment

Desirable

Experience of working in primary care
