Job summary

East Street Surgery is a well-established GP practice located in North Southwark, with excellent road and transport links. We are seeking a Salaried GP to join our friendly and supportive team.

The post is for 8 sessions per week (with the option of job share) and is available from August 2026.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive GP committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to a diverse patient population.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and take an active role in the day-to-day life of the practice, including participation in meetings, education programmes, and service development.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will undertake clinical sessions comprising a mix of face-to-face and remote consultations.

Key responsibilities include:

Assessing, diagnosing and managing patients presenting with acute and chronic conditions Conducting clinical examinations, investigations and procedures Providing preventative care and lifestyle advice Managing referrals, prescriptions, laboratory results and clinical correspondence Handling clinical queries, including medical reports Undertaking home visits when clinically required Participating in QOF, population health management and quality improvement activity Contributing to practice meetings, education and service development Delivering safe, effective and evidence-based care

We offer:

A list size of nearly 7,000 patients 2 GP partners and 3 salaried GPs Nursing team including Practice Nurse and Nursing Associate A strong administrative and reception team (9 staff) We are based in a purpose-built, modern facility at Harold Moody Health Centre, providing an excellent working environment.

The practice is fully computerised using EMIS Web, Docman and TQuest.

We are actively engaged with our GP Federation and Southwark ICB, with strong collaborative relationships across the local area.

Clinical responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive GP services in accordance with the PMS contract Manage patient consultations including history taking, examination, diagnosis, treatment and referral Provide preventative care and health promotion advice Support patients referred by the nursing team Undertake duty doctor sessions as required Manage clinical correspondence, prescriptions, referrals and results using EMIS Web and Docman Undertake home visits when clinically appropriate Act on alerts, recalls and quality indicators (e.g. QOF) during consultations Issue medical certificates in line with NHS regulations Adhere to local and national prescribing guidelines Professional practice

Make safe, autonomous clinical decisions Maintain accurate, clear and contemporaneous clinical records Issue prescriptions electronically where possible Contribute to audit, quality improvement and data collection Education, training and development

Engage in CPD, appraisal and revalidation activity Contribute to and work within a Personal Development Plan Participate in training of staff, students and GP trainees where appropriate Undertake training to support enhanced services Practice responsibilities

Attend and contribute to clinical and practice meetings Support colleagues and provide clinical advice to the wider team Maintain compliance with practice policies (e.g. confidentiality, data protection, health & safety) Support achievement of QOF and enhanced service targets General

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Experience of working in UK general practice Strong clinical knowledge in primary care Experience using EMIS Web and Docman Experience of telephone and/or remote consultations

Desirable

Experience in a similar salaried GP role Interest in QOF, population health, or service development

Qualifications Essential

Full GMC registration Medical degree Completion of GP vocational training MRCGP (or equivalent)

Other Essential

Eligible to work independently in the UK Flexibility to work within practice hours Excellent communication and teamwork skills
