Main duties of the job The Band 3 Care Support Worker at HCRG Care Group plays a crucial role in providing high-quality care for children with complex medical needs. This part-time role, based in Trowbridge, requires dedication and compassion as you join the Children's Continuing Care Team. Responsibilities include caring for children in their homes, requiring shifts at various times to allow parents to rest. You will attend to children's diverse health needs, some of whom depend on medical technology. Comprehensive training is provided, and accurate records of care must be kept. Effective and professional communication with children and families is essential, and all care is aligned with each childs care plan. It is vital to recognize changes in a child's health, responding with appropriate measures as outlined in their care plan.

Main Responsibilities:

Being part of the childrens continuing care team will involve -

Caring for children in their own homes, this will involve waking night shifts, day shifts and evening shifts, where you will be required to look after and respond to different health needs whilst parents get some sleep and rest. Being confident to look after children who have complex health needs and require medical technology such as ventilators, feeding tubes, and oxygen. You will receive full training in all aspects of a childs care and will work with a trained colleague whilst you are learning these new skills, which are reviewed regularly. Keeping accurate records of the care you provide. Communicating effectively and professionally with children and families in our care. Working to and providing care in line with the childs care plan. The Ideal candidate will have:

Essential:

Understanding the impact of providing/receiving care in the home for children with complex medical needs and their families Ability to participate in training of new staff in a variety of settings, including theory training, and training within family homes. Full UK driving license and use of a car. Willingness to travel across the whole of Wiltshire and Banes as required. Flexible and reliable. Willingness to work towards experienced to teach part of Competency Framework. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to relate to children. Adaptable and motivated. Must maintain confidentiality. Trustworthy. Caring, patient and observant. Ability to learn theoretical/practical skills.Desirable:

NVQ 3 in health or social care or recognized nursery nurse qualification. GCSE in Moths and English. British Sign Language level 1. Makaton. Experience of relevant clinical procedures and technology dependence. Minimum of 1yr experience working with children with complex health needs. Minimum of 1yr working with children in other setting, e.g. nursery, respite service. Recognise own strengths and weaknesses. Recognise own needs for support and development.Package Description
