We have an exciting opportunity for Mental Health Clinical Lead to join our Mental Health team at HMP Whatton, a category C Prison located in Nottinghamshire.
HMP Whatton is a male adult prison with a capacity of 855. The Mental Health Clinical Lead role will be approximately 80% managerial and 20% clinical.
Candidates should have experience leading a team, including managing rotas and annual leave, with strong organisational and leadership skills. Ideally, they will have experience managing a team consisting of 4 nurses and 1 mental health practitioner.
Previous prison healthcare experience is highly desirable, alongside proven managerial experience within mental health services.

Monday - Friday 37.5 hours 8.30am - 4.30pm Salary:
This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to £51,643 - £58,012 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As a Mental Health Clinical Lead, your responsibilities will vary. You will
Work as part of and lead the Mental Health team within the Integrated Healthcare Services team. Provide clinical leadership and management to Registered nurses and allied health professionals. Establish inter-agency working where necessary to ensure good communication increases quality of care for patients. Ensuring that own clinical practice is consistent with autonomous practice within the role. Based on the Wellbeing Approach and Practice Plus mental Health policy, provide nursing triage and screening and assessment. Actively participate with the development of local operating procedures to ensure pathways are clear for clinicians Ensuring all complaints / concerns relating to Mental Health are dealt with in a timely fashion. Nurse lead treatment or care within mental health Confirm waiting list are well managed ensuring minimal waiting times for patients Medicines management/advice including supporting medicine administration If you are interested in career development, we have a wide range of opportunities for you to develop your skills and experience, which include both internal and external options for development and learning.

Qualifications required
Registered Mental Health Nurse - NMC Experience of providing supervision Teaching / Mentoring experience and /or qualification Experience Evidence of appropriate continuing professional development activity to maintain up-to-date knowledge and on-going competence in all aspects of the role Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
