Are you passionate about making a difference in healthcare? We're looking for a dedicated part-time Health Care Assistant to join our friendly team at Church Street Partnership, a multi-site practice serving around 16,600 patients.
As a Health Care Assistant, you'll play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care alongside a supportive nursing team.
We are ideally seeking an experienced HCA; however, we are open to supporting training and development within treatment room services, including wound care and vaccinations.
As part of the role we are looking for a reliable and organised site-to-site Courier to join our team, therefore, a driving licence and access to a car is essential.
Main duties of the job
The role involves undertaking site-to-site courier duties, ensuring the safe and timely transport of items, equipment, stock, and vaccines between locations, alongside supporting healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities include carrying out patient health checks and routine observations, providing treatment room services within scope of practice (such as wound care, ECGs, blood pressure monitoring, and vaccinations once trained), maintaining accurate records, preparing specimens for transport, ensuring clinical rooms and equipment are clean, stocked, and compliant with IPC standards, supporting minor procedures and chronic disease clinics, and delivering health promotion and patient education where appropriate.

The following are the core responsibilities of the Healthcare Assistant. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks, this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels
Undertake site-to-site courier duties, transporting items, documents, equipment, stock, and vaccines safely and efficiently between locations, ensuring timely delivery and appropriate handling. Assist healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality patient care. Carry out patient health checks, including new patient assessments, routine observations (e.g. blood pressure, temperature, pulse, oxygen saturations), and monitoring. Provide treatment room services within scope of practice, including wound care, dressings, ECGs, blood pressure monitoring (including 24-hour BP), and vaccinations (once trained). Support Practice Nurses in the delivery and management of chronic disease clinics and health promotion programmes. Maintain accurate patient records and complete associated administrative tasks as required. Ensure all specimens are correctly labelled, recorded, and prepared for onward transport. Maintain clinical rooms to a high standard, ensuring they are clean, well-stocked, and prepared for each session. Adhere to infection prevention and control (IPC) procedures, including safe disposal of clinical waste and management of sharps bins. Ensure clinical equipment, including fridges, is maintained and cleaned in line with current guidance. Provide support during minor operations and act as a chaperone when required. Deliver opportunistic health promotion and patient education where appropriate.
