Job description Job responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities:
To carry out ECG recording on patients as requested, in line with practice protocols, ensuringthat the output and results are passed to the appropriate clinician for review.
Provide phlebotomy services for patients as per practice protocols.
To carry out NHS Health Checks as per practice protocols which include the internal &external quality control checks on the equipment for the St Chads site, flagging any discrepancies to the Nurse Manager immediately.
Assist with the GP with Minor Operations and Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptionclinics.
Administer immunisations, medication and vaccinations under Patient Specific
Directions as directed. Types of vaccine/medication postholder is able to administerare:

To support the practice nurses in delivering delegated wound care. Items delegatedare:
Removal of sutures and clipsWound dressings following a wound care planCompression Bandaging under supervision of a registered nurse mentor
To support the practice in delivering long term conditions care for patients as assessedcompetent to do so. This includes:
Diabetic Foot ChecksRespiratory diagnostic testing Feno and Spirometry passing output andresults to appropriate clinician for review.Phlebotomy for LTC monitoringTo provide ear checks to patients prior to their audiology appointment.To undertake specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individualTo provide chaperoning duties for patients and/or clinicians as requested ensuring that chaperone training is up to date and practice protocols are followed.To process and manage laboratory samples to send off to the pathology lab as requested by GPs/Nurses. Such samples include urine, stool, sputum and other pathology.
Administration and professional responsibilities
Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team.
Ensure accurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients records.Ensure that medical records are completed at time of consultation and are accurate and that confidentiality is respected in line with surgery policy.Ensure the clinical computer system is kept up to date with accurate details recorded of any consultation or patient contact. Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with the practice. Ensure collection and maintenance of statistical information required for regular and ad hoc reports Order general clinical surgery supplies under the direction of the nurse manager, ensuring the most appropriate items are ordered for quality and budget.To provide the service of re-stocking clinical rooms and cupboards and ordering needed items of nursing supplies for the St Chads site ensuring the most appropriate items are ordered for quality and budget.Supervising junior staff to ensure stock levels are maintained and supporting junior staff escalating any concerns with performance to associate lead nurse and or nurse manager.Be responsible for maintaining the vaccine/cold chain storage and the monitoring of vaccine fridges, highlighting to the nurse manager any issues with the fridge or cold chain immediately.Preparing and maintain the clinical environment and equipment in own clinical room before, during and after patient care interventions to meet the Infection, Prevention and Control standards of the practice in full according to practice policy and protocols, noting the practices bare below the elbow, hair and jewellery policies.Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-beingHelping to raise awareness of health and well-being with patients and how it can be promoted.Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being including support for clinical audit.To assist in seasonal and special projects as requested e.g. flu and covid vaccination campaignTo take part in full in the appraisal and training structures of the practice including ensuring all mandatory training is in date.Attend and participate in any team or whole practice meetings when required. These may be on days you do not normally work, however you will be at times expected to attend and overtime will be paid. Notice for such meetings will be given in advance.Provide administrative support to the nurse manager as requested.Other duties as requested from time to time

Qualifications Essential
Maths and English minimum Grade C or an equivalent numeracy/ literacy certificate NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care or an equivalent recognised qualification in healthcare.
Desirable
Minimum of Two years Healthcare assistant experience within a primary care setting
