Job summary
We are seeking a compassionate, motivated Healthcare Assistant (Band 3) to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team at our St Elizabeth Ward at. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical skills within a supportive environment specialising in Orthopaedic and General Surgery.
Main duties of the job
Our ward consists of 16 single ensuite rooms and provides care for a wide range of surgical patients. Procedures include:
Joint replacements, fracture repairs, spinal and softtissue surgeries Breast, ENT, gynaecological, gastrointestinal, urology, cosmetic and traumarelated surgeries

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital part in delivering highquality clinical and personal care to patients under the supervision of Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals. Your work will help maintain patient comfort, dignity, and safety at all times.
You will contribute to a wide range of clinical activities, including:
Supporting the planning and delivery of individualised, evidencebased patient care Taking and recording patient observations, including vital signs, ECGs, venepuncture and cannulation (with training and competency evidence) Assisting with surgical admissions, theatre preparation, postoperative care, and patient discharge Providing personal care such as bathing, feeding, and supporting activities of daily living Maintaining a safe, clean environment and adhering to Infection Prevention and Control standards Escorting patients to other departments or hospitals as required Completing accurate nursing documentation in line with hospital policies
You will also undertake daily, weekly, and monthly safety checks and support the operational management of the ward when required.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
NVQ Level 2 in Health Care Experience working in a clinical or healthcare setting Evidence of direct patient care Ability to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection Evidence of mandatory training Ability to take and record vital signs Excellent communication, organisational and timemanagement skills Compassionate, calm under pressure, flexible, and committed to professional development
