Job summary

Permanent | Part Time 30 hours

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Radiology team at Sheffield Children's Hospital, supporting the delivery of a high-quality, specialised paediatric diagnostic imaging service.

You will provide an efficient administrative and clerical service to the Radiology Department, offering support to the Radiology Secretary, PACS team, and wider administrative team. The role involves managing calls and enquiries, analysing queries, escalating issues as appropriate, and maintaining accurate records.

You will work closely with parents and patients, some of whom may be distressed, and must communicate in a sensitive, caring, and professional manner in line with the Trust's CARE values. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with families and stakeholders are essential.

Main duties of the job

Reporting into the PACS/RIS Manager, some of your responsibilities will include:

Provide administrative support to the Radiology Secretary, PACS team, and clerical team Use RIS, Careflow, and PACS to manage patient records and radiology images Handle image transfers, PACS queries, and ensure image availability Support MDTs, meetings, and SLAs, including note-taking Assist with invoicing and finance processes alongside Finance Provide reception cover, booking and registering patients Print and distribute reports and cover the Radiology Secretary when required

Qualifications and Training Essential

Level 3 qualification, or equivalent experience

Experience Essential

Experience working in a secretarial or clerical role Experience of working with Hospital IT systems Customer service experience acquired from working in a customer service environment. Experience in accurately updating systems including database and spreadsheet management. Experience providing administrative support for meetings, including preparation and note taking. Experience in working with customers to resolve queries and find solutions to problems.

Desirable

Training on Careflow system Appropriate training on other Trust Information systems essential to the role -RIS and PACS

Knowlege and skills Essential

Ability to self-manage own workload, and referring when appropriate Knowledge of data protection, information governance and working with confidential, sensitive information.
