About this role
Northvolt has an exciting job possibility for experienced Cathode Material Engineers, specialized in Li-ion battery technology. You will be contributing from start to finish in building one of the first large scale European battery factories, which will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society. With a thorough understanding of design and manufacturing engineering of cathode material process you will be also deeply involved in the process of optimization, the iterative work leading to the highest yield rate for the production and the optimization of material characteristics. You will serve as technical expert for buyers, strategic suppliers and technical team members. The Cathode Material Engineer, with specialization in Li-ion battery technology will work closely with members within the R&D; and Evaluation & Analysis team. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Design and development of cathode materials for lithium-ion battery cells Characterization and validation of cathode materials for lithium-ion battery cells Work with external suppliers, institutes, and academic organizations Provide engineering support to process teams for manufacturing process The role requires traveling, mainly within Asia. Northvolt is building the largest lithium-ion battery factory in Europe. This is key for future innovation and will support and accelerate the transition to sustainable energy production and consumption. We aim to build the next generation battery factory with cutting edge technology and a structural cost advantage that will produce the world’s greenest battery with minimum carbon footprint and a sustainable lifecycle. We are staffing our international project office in Stockholm and preparing upcoming recruitments for the establishment of the R&D; facility, Northvolt Labs, in Västerås and the main factory, Northvolt Ett, in Skellefteå.
