Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Salaried GP to join our friendly and supportive team at Layton Medical Centre. Delivering Primary care services across 6 - 7 sessions a week.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

Provide high-quality, patient-centred care in accordance with GMC and NHS standardsUndertake a mix of face-to-face, telephone and digital consultationsManage both acute and chronic conditionsUndertake home visits where clinically appropriateParticipate in a weekly duty/on-call rotaProvide cross-cover for GP colleagues during periods of annual leave, including:Additional clinical sessionsOn-call/duty doctor responsibilitiesAssociated clinical administration and workflowManage clinical workload including:Pathology results (Pathlinks)Docman correspondencePrescriptions and medication queriesWork collaboratively within a multidisciplinary teamMaintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical recordsContribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, and QOF achievement

Layton Medical Centre is a well-established GP practice in Blackpool with a patient list of approximately 8200 patients.

We have a strong and supportive multidisciplinary workforce including:

5 Salaried GPs2 Experienced ANPsPractice Nurses, HCA and Trainee Nursing Associate (TNA)Clinical Pharmacist and Pharmacy TechniciansFirst Contact Practitioner (FCP)Mental Health Practitioner (MHP)A highly effective and experienced administrative teamThis model supports safe efficient and high-quality patient care.

We are also home to Fylde Coast Clinical Research, an awardwinning primary care research unit embedded within the practice. The service is a purposebuilt clinical trials centre, working in partnership with the NHS and wider research networks.

Job description Job responsibilities

The role includes:

Delivery of primary care services across 6 -7sessions per weekManagement of a defined patient list alongside shared responsibility for the wider practice populationParticipation in a structured weekly duty/on-call rota, with additional cover during colleague annual leaveUndertaking home visits as requiredManaging clinical administration including Pathlinks, Docman workflow, and prescriptionsProviding cover for GP colleagues during annual leave, including additional sessions and workloadParticipation in practice meetings, MDT working, and service developmentAdherence to practice policies, CQC standards, and clinical governance requirementsSupporting supervision, mentoring or training activities

Professional Responsibilities & Clinical GovernanceThe post holder will be expected to:

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current clinical guidelines and best practiceParticipate in practice meetings, clinical meetings, and MDT discussionsEngage in clinical audit, quality improvement and service development activityContribute to significant event reviews, learning events, and reflective practiceSupport delivery of QOF, GP contract and quality improvement programmesEnsure compliance with CQC, NHS and practice governance standards

Training & DevelopmentMaintain mandatory training requirements in line with practice, PCN and NHS policiesUndertake continuing professional development (CPD) in line with appraisal and revalidation requirementsParticipate in annual appraisal and revalidation processesSupport development and training of colleagues where appropriate

Team Working & MDT EngagementWork collaboratively with the wider team including ANPs, nurses, pharmacists, FCP, MHP and administrative staffActively participate in multidisciplinary working and patient care planningContribute to a positive, supportive and inclusive team cultureThe post holder will contribute to a culture of continuous learning, safety, and improvement within the practice.

Qualifications Essential

Full GMC registration Inclusion on the NHS England GP Performers List MRCGP (or equivalent)

Experience Essential

Experience working in UK General Practice Strong clinical decision-making skills
