Job summary
We are pleased to offer a brand-new and exciting opportunity for an experienced and forward-thinking Pharmacy Technician to join our team as Lead Pharmacy Technician for Procurement, Distribution and Computer Services. This innovative role has been created to enhance our medicines supply chain and support the management and development of the Pharmacy Computer System (CMM).
This post offers a unique opportunity to specialise in medicines procurement alongside key involvement in pharmacy digital systems, CMM and Powergate. You will play a central role in ensuring safe, efficient and financially robust medicines management processes that directly support patient safety and high-quality care. You will also champion procurement while building resilience within the workforce.
Main duties of the job
As the Lead Pharmacy Technician, you will:
Lead and coordinate the Pharmacy Procurement and Distribution service
Oversee the efficient and safe purchasing, supply and distribution of medicines
Support robust financial governance, including cost-effective purchasing, accurate invoicing and contract compliance
Be an expert user for digital pharmacy systems, contributing to the optimisation of the Pharmacy Stock Control System (CMM) and Powergate.
Provide leadership, supervision and development for procurement, stores and distribution staff
Manage stock control processes, data quality, medicines shortages and supply chain resilience
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, Trust policies, national guidance and medicines governance requirements
Support service planning, audits, incident investigation and pharmacy improvement initiatives
Work closely with pharmacy, finance, clinical, procurement and digital colleagues to deliver high-quality, patient-centred services
