Job Summary
The Salaried GP provides high-quality primary medical care to registered patients within the practice. The role involves diagnosing and managing acute and chronic illnesses, promoting health and wellbeing, and working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
Provide comprehensive general medical services to patients registered with the practice. Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Conduct face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations. Prescribe medications in accordance with NHS and practice guidelines. Refer patients to secondary care services when appropriate. Manage test results, clinical correspondence, and follow-up care. Maintain accurate and contemporaneous electronic patient records. Patient Care
Deliver preventative care and health promotion. Support the management of long-term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and hypertension. Provide safeguarding support for vulnerable adults and children where necessary. Participate in home visits when required. Teamwork and Collaboration
Work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team. Contribute to clinical meetings and practice discussions. Support training and supervision of medical students or GP trainees, where applicable. Governance and Quality
Adhere to NHS, GMC, and CQC regulations and standards. Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement, and significant event reviews. Maintain professional registration and revalidation requirements. Engage in continuing professional development (CPD).
Working Hours
Typically 6 sessions per week (a session usually equals approximately 4 hours 10 minutes). Participation in duty doctor rota may be required. No responsibility for practice management decisions unless agreed.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Qualified medical practitioner with full registration with the General Medical Council - GMC. Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners - MRCGP. Annual appraisal and revalidation On medical performers list Licensed to practice in the UK.
