Department

The School for Business and Society are recruiting for a Research Associate to work with a project team on an NIHR funded research project entitled: “Improving policy and practice to promote and protect the emotional well-being of Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Young People leaving care in England”. The research combines desk based and qualitative interviewing methods as well as the creation of online resources to assist policy makers and practitioners. This is an opportunity to join a team of experienced and passionate researchers and advocates.

This role may involve direct work with children and therefore the successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check prior to appointment.

Role

To conduct research under the supervision of senior colleagues and to contribute to the production of research. Analysis and interpretation of research data; use of appropriate research techniques and methods; writing up of research results and dissemination through publications, seminar and conference presentations and public engagement and outreach activities To undertake appropriate organisational and administrative activities connected to the research project, including conference organisation, and the development of promotional or educational material including website maintenance and development.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

PhD in a relevant subject area or equivalent experience Knowledge required to engage in high quality research Highly developed communication skills to engage effectively with a wide ranging audience, both orally and in writing, using a range of media Ability to write up research work for publication in high profile journals and engage in public dissemination Ability to work as part of a team and also to work independently using own initiative Please see the ‘Person Specification’ for more information
