Job Title: Diesel TechnicianJob DescriptionThis position is for a diesel technician at a service facility, primarily focusing on performing preventive maintenance on forklifts, tractor trailers, and trucks. The role involves checking tires, adding oil, performing inspections, and adding brake fluid, akin to car maintenance but on a larger scale. Additionally, you will engage in reactive tasks such as completely changing out brakes, addressing DOT failures, and replacing shocks. Comfort with conducting DOT inspections and various diagnostic work on trucks is essential.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on forklifts, tractor trailers, and trucks.
- Check and maintain tires, oil levels, and brake fluid.
- Conduct inspections and perform diagnostic work on trucks.
- Change out brakes, address DOT failures, and replace shocks.
- Read and interpret blueprints.
- Utilize own tools for mechanical repair tasks.
Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a maintenance shop within a distribution center. It is a first shift position running from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Bend, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
