Job Title: Injection Mold TechnicianJob DescriptionThe Injection Mold Technician performs preventive maintenance and repairs on plastic injection molds, ensuring reliable operation and high-quality molded parts. This role focuses on troubleshooting mold and tooling issues, replacing mold components, and operating toolroom equipment to support a high-volume plastics manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) and corrective repairs on plastic injection molds to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Troubleshoot mold and tooling issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
• Disassemble injection molds, inspect components for wear or damage, and reassemble molds to production-ready condition.
• Replace mold components such as pins, cores, inserts, and slides with precision and adherence to specifications.
• Operate mills, lathes, grinders, and other toolroom equipment safely and accurately to repair and modify mold components.
• Conduct detailed mold inspections, document findings, and record all repairs and maintenance activities for future reference.
• Collaborate with process technicians and production teams to support plastics injection molding operations and improve mold performance.
• Follow established maintenance procedures, safety guidelines, and quality standards throughout all mold repair and inspection tasks.

Essential Skills

• 23+ years of hands-on experience in injection mold maintenance and repair.
• Proven ability to disassemble, repair, and reassemble injection molds accurately and efficiently.
• Strong knowledge of injection molded plastic parts and injection mold construction and function.
• Experience working with molding and injection molding processes in a plastics manufacturing environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot mold and tooling issues and apply practical solutions.
• Proficiency in operating mills, lathes, grinders, and related toolroom equipment.
• Solid understanding of plastics materials and plastics processing principles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background in process technology related to plastics injection molding.
• Experience in plastic molding and broader plastics manufacturing operations.
• Attention to detail and strong documentation skills for recording mold inspections and repairs.
• Ability to work effectively with production and maintenance teams in a fast-paced environment.

Work EnvironmentThis role operates on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Work is performed in a plastics manufacturing facility with a dedicated toolroom, utilizing mills, lathes, grinders, and other machining equipment to service injection molds. The environment is production-focused, with an emphasis on safety, quality, and collaboration across maintenance and molding operations.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Long Beach, CA.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
