General Laborer/ Handy man Job DescriptionThis role focuses on assembling storage containers using hand and power tools in a fast-paced, team-oriented production environment. You work closely with a small team to build containers from kits, following detailed instructions and measurements to ensure quality and consistency. The position requires reliable attendance, strong mechanical aptitude, and the physical ability to lift and move materials throughout the shift.
Responsibilities
- Assemble storage containers using hand tools such as hammers and screwdrivers, as well as power tools including drills.
- Work in teams of approximately five people to build each container from provided kits.
- Follow written and verbal directions and instructions to properly assemble containers according to specifications.
- Use a tape measure accurately to take measurements and ensure components are cut, aligned, and installed correctly.
- Apply basic math skills to measure and mark materials as needed during assembly and construction tasks.
- Lift and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or more on a continuous basis throughout the shift.
- Perform assembly and disassembly tasks that require mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Maintain a positive attitude and collaborate effectively with team members to meet production goals.
- Utilize construction and framing skills to support general production and assembly work.
- Adhere to all safety requirements, including the use of steel-toed boots and proper handling of tools and equipment.
- Maintain consistent attendance and meet production expectations to remain in good standing.
- Keep the work area organized and contribute to a clean and safe warehouse environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Harvey, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
