About this role

Take your professional driving experience beyond transportation and put it to work helping bring breast cancer screening directly to communities across Virginia.

As a Mobile Mammography Driver with UVA Health, you’ll play an important role in making breast imaging more accessible. You’ll transport the mobile mammography coach and Breast Imaging staff to community sites, prepare the coach for service, assist with patient registration, and help ensure the vehicle remains ready for the road. This is an opportunity to combine professional driving, healthcare operations, patient interaction, and community service in one meaningful role.

The Role

Your day begins well before the first patient arrives. You’ll help ensure UVA Health’s mobile mammography team gets where it needs to be safely and efficiently, then support operations at the site so the clinical team can focus on providing breast imaging services.

This role offers more variety and purpose than a traditional driving position. You’ll become an important part of the Mobile Mammography team while helping UVA Health extend breast imaging services into underserved areas and communities.

In this role, you will

  • Safely drive the mobile mammography coach and staff members to locations throughout Virginia.
  • Set up and prepare the mobile coach at community sites for the day’s imaging services.
  • Assist with patient registration for mammography exams, providing a welcoming and professional experience.
  • Support routine vehicle maintenance and help keep the coach operational and ready for scheduled outreach.
  • Work closely with Breast Imaging professionals to keep mobile operations running smoothly.
  • Help deliver reliable transportation and logistical support while adapting to different locations and daily operational needs.
  • Join a team that works closely together, shares knowledge, and supports one another when challenges arise.
  • Contribute directly to an outreach program designed to bring breast imaging closer to people who may otherwise face barriers to accessing care.

Candidates for this opportunity must hold a Commercial Driver's License with a current Medical Examiner Certification.

Why UVA Health

At UVA Health, this isn't simply about moving a vehicle from one location to another. The Mobile Mammography Driver helps connect communities with important breast screening services.

There is a direct line between the work you do and the patients the team can reach. By safely transporting and supporting the mobile mammography coach, you help UVA Health take healthcare beyond its traditional facilities and bring breast imaging directly into communities across Virginia.

What makes this opportunity different

  • Purpose behind the wheel: Your driving and operational expertise directly supports access to breast health services.
  • Community impact: Help the Breast Imaging team reach underserved areas in addition to supporting established imaging locations.
  • Variety: Combine professional driving with mobile-site setup, vehicle support, patient registration, and healthcare operations.
  • Strong teamwork: Work alongside a Breast Imaging team that values collaboration, knowledge sharing, and supporting one another.
  • Connection to an academic health system: Become part of UVA Health and contribute to a mission focused on improving patient care and access to healthcare.
  • Visible results: At the end of the day, you can see how your work helped bring an important healthcare service directly to patients.
