Job summary Make a meaningful difference to adults living with bladder and bowel conditions. The BSW Adult Bladder and Bowel Service is a nurse-led specialist team providing assessment, treatment, advice and ongoing support to adults aged 18+ with complex bladder and bowel symptoms. Working in partnership with patients, GPs and a wide range of clinical colleagues, the team also delivers education, advice and training to internal and external healthcare professionals. The service supports communities across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire. The post is based at Melksham Community Hospital, with travel across localities required to deliver care through telephone assessments, face-to-face clinics, and home or care home visits. Youll work collaboratively with specialist services including pelvic health physiotherapy, urology, colorectal, gynaecology and gastroenterology, as well as community teams such as district nursing, tissue viability, Parkinsons and MS services. Main duties of the job The BSW Adult Bladder and Bowel Service is a specialist nurse-led team offering comprehensive care to adults with complex bladder and bowel symptoms. The team works closely with patients, GPs, and clinical colleagues, providing not only treatment but also education and training for healthcare professionals. Based at Melksham Community Hospital, the role involves travel across Bath, Swindon, and Wiltshire to conduct telephone assessments, face-to-face clinics, and home or care home visits. Collaborating with other specialist services like pelvic health physiotherapy, urology, and community teams such as district nursing, the role requires compassion, resilience, and a patient-centered approach. It involves managing a caseload, leading clinics, and having a say in the service development. Work hours are 22.5 per week, Monday to Friday without weekend duties. Essential responsibilities include autonomous care delivery, collaborative patient support, holistic clinical assessments, and maintaining accurate records. This is an exciting opportunity to join the service during a period of development and change, where your ideas and input will be welcomed as we continue to shape and improve how care is delivered. The role is 22.5 hours per week, working Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm, with no current requirement for weekends or bank holidays.The post may involve occasional exposure to challenging situations and patients who are distressed or confused, so resilience, professionalism and compassion are essential.

Main Responsibilities Deliver compassionate, patientcentred bladder and bowel care, working autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team Assess, plan and deliver highquality, evidencebased care that promotes equality, dignity and inclusion Communicate clearly and nonjudgementally with patients, carers, GPs and wider clinical teams Support and empower patients through education, selfmanagement and lifestyle advice Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition using sound clinical judgement Undertake intimate clinical examinations in line with professional standards and guidelines Manage caseloads, clinics and referrals, including triage and urgent advice Work within professional competencies, seeking guidance when needed Maintain accurate and timely clinical records using IT systems Contribute to service delivery, development, audits and team activities Act as deputy to the Service Lead when required Uphold confidentiality, professionalism and compliance with organisational policiesPlease see the attached job description for full details of the role.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Registered Adult Nurse with a minimum of 2 years' post-registration experience, strong interest in bladder and bowel care, compassionate communication skills, ability to conduct clinical assessments, proficient in IT systems for clinical documentation, organisational skills, ongoing professional development, mentorship or teaching qualifications, full UK driving licence.
